A production-ready approach to AI video workflows
Generative AI has advanced beyond still images, presenting new challenges for VFX artists, particularly in achieving control. AIF202: Advanced ComfyUI – Generative Video Production for VFX, led by Eran Dinur, builds on the foundations of AIF201 and emphasises key production elements, including camera precision, animation fidelity, and integration with established VFX pipelines. The course moves beyond simple prompting, focusing on developing structured, repeatable workflows that enable AI-generated video to integrate seamlessly with CG, compositing, and editorial processes in professional environments.
The course adopts a practical, technical approach to ComfyUI-based video generation. Artists will work with WAN models in both single- and dual-model configurations, learn VRAM management and strategies for scaling beyond local hardware, and develop techniques for achieving cinematic camera motion that surpasses approximate outputs. Upon completion, participants will understand how to implement generative video within a controlled, production-ready workflow.
From experimentation to control
A primary focus of the course is transitioning from experimental AI outputs to intentional design. For VFX workflows, precise control over camera and animation is essential, and AIF202 provides in-depth instruction on achieving these objectives. Artists will explore methods for transferring camera motion and animation from Maya into ComfyUI using ControlNets and OpenPose, enabling alignment of generative outputs with pre-designed CG scenes.
The course introduces tools such as Wan Wrapper, Uni3C, and TimeToMove to extend camera systems and facilitate advanced spatial and temporal control. In addition to generation, the course addresses finishing processes, including upscaling, ensuring temporal consistency, and integrating outputs into Nuke for final refinement. This comprehensive approach covers the entire pipeline from initial setup to final delivery.
