NUKE For Trainers Overview

NUKE For Trainers Overview

| Posted by John Montgomery | February 11, 2011

We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with The Foundry to be the exclusive educational organization where artists can gain certification to be trainers for NUKE. This is the only way to become an officially certified NUKE trainer. After successful completion of the course, which includes passing both standard and practical exams, members will be listed on the Foundry’s web site as a Certified NUKE Trainer. These members can also nominate a single place of work as a Certified NUKE Training Centre.

This curriculum is totally separate from our normal offerings, due to the fact that it is targeted towards those who wish to train other artists in NUKE. The program is not designed to make great shots for your reel, but to provide you with detailed information about the software and how to pass that knowledge on to others. fxphd prof Matt Leonard leads the course, and he has worked very closely with The Foundry to develop a solid and accurate training curriculum. Leonard has been in the 3D and visual effects industry for 19 years and has produced work for feature films, commercials and large corporate projects. He has trained and spoken at various events throughout the world and has been on the beta test teams for Maya, Nuke, Fusion, and Mari.

The Foundry’s release schedule generally includes two updates per year. Every twelve months Certified NUKE Trainers will need to be re-certified on the most recent release of the software. This is an additional program which includes tutorial movies as well as online examinations for each release that has occurred in the previous twelve months. Cost is $249 per year.

this is probably a good way to make a wider artist pool in places where there are only few of them

    a) What is the duration of the course? If I can complete it in 2 months, can I attend the exam ?
    b) I checked the foundry’s website. But none of the fxphd student’s name is listed there

Since there is 30 hours of training, and immediate downloads, it doesn’t sound like there is a set schedule for taking these exams. Will there be a set time that you need to have your training done by, or can you finish the training and take the exams on you own schedule?

Hello I like the part that says
“Certified NUKE Trainers will be able to purchase packages of footage and assets which they may use for their classes”
Is there a large list of footage and assets I would be able to use for my class? Just wondering what you have 😀

And what about deep compositing, particles, new functionalities from Nuke 7, ocula, furnace ?
Do I need to do the re-certification each year, to remain certfied?

    Hi
With the announcement of Nuke 9 just around the corner. I was wondering when will this course update for Nuke 9?
I noticed that the new level for Nuke 8 was released in April 2014 when the Foundry released Nuke 8 in December 2013.
Does it mean that the new level for Nuke 9 won’t be ready until next year?
    Thanks
    Alex

Yes, Alex, that is the case. It’s simply due to the review and approval process.

But all certified trainers are in the same boat, so to speak, so it shouldn’t impact your marketability.

    Hi

And what courses purposes you for an absolute beginner.

This course is not for absolute beginners – inside fxphd we have 100 level courses, this is aimed at people who want to be trainers. Hope that helps… 100 is the lower level – then 200 then 300 and I would say this course is then almost something you can think of as a ‘400’ level course
