DaVinci Resolve 10 Training Now Available

DaVinci Resolve 10 is now available from Blackmagic. The newest version of the popular color correction software has several enhancements, including tools for online editing tools to simplify the round trip process. It now also supports OpenFX plugins and easyDCP integration to allow users to generate DCPs.

Resolve10_powerwindowsAnd to help artists learn DaVinci Resolve 10, fxphd prof. and colorist Warren Eagles has prepared a 10-class Resolve V10 Fundamentals FastForward course that can be downloaded immediately. Eagles, who has been grading for more than 25 years, says the new tools in Resolve 10 are what he has been looking forward to the most.

“The grading experience with Resolve has changed a lot since I first used in in 2005,” says Eagles. “New features have been added consistently since then and V10 does not disappoint. The editing/finishing tools are what I have been getting to grips with. As a traditional grader, I have normally passed all the finishing to another guy, but now titles, small comps, cloning, blurring can all be done in Resolve. This means learning new stuff, something I enjoy.”

You can find out more about Warren Eagles’ 2013 Resolve Fundamentals course here, and also below he gives his top five Resolve 10 tips and tricks.

1. I feel the need to “Roundtrip” is diminishing. So really take a good look at the finishing tools, if you can finish in Resolve and don’t have to render then re-import to your NLE, that will be a great time saver and means you don’t lose another quality generation

2. Split Screen mode, which means you can grade and compare up to 16 images at once on your grading monitor. This is great for both the colorist and the client.

3. The new Temporal NR is a big improvement, especially when there is motion in the image

4. New Power Windows, so much better, it is now fun drawing and tracking shapes

5. The “Node Resizing” great for cloning small areas, like adding extra clouds, or masking areas out that we don’t want to see
