Selective color correction using the Keyer

I use the hue shift in the keyer to target a specfic color to shift. As you know the Discreet Color corrector only alows you to correct the whole scene. This can be a problem when the client wants to change just one color in that scene. If you are on Flame 7.0 or Inferno 4.0 you can use Color Warper to get great results, if you are on older software or Fire this method works well.

I used to have to cut mattes then hue shift the whole scene and recomp the change over the orginal. Most of the time this meant rotoscoping. This trick works best with CG animations, graphics, or cell animation beacuse these clips usually have uniform colors.

Steps;
1. load the clip into DVE or Action.
2. add a keyer node
3. go to keyer, then to Color
4. click on hue shift

5. using “Plot” identify the color in the image that you want to shift, plot will place a red line in the color band. Raise the curve at that point to 75. You have now selected your color to shift.6. Select the color pot next to “Hue shift”, this will bring up the color sliders.

7. As you adjust the sliders you should see the result of your color correction on the picture. You can then refine your selection by adjusting the curve points or the color bt adjusting the color in the hue shift pot.
