The new April term is now open at fxphd, and we’re very excited about the lineup. We have continued to make a special effort to deliver on requests for our members.

The term in brief

The lineup of new has multiple courses for various areas of specialty such as compositing, pipeline and 3D. The selection is then rounded out by several other broader offerings. But don’t forget — we have over 100 other courses on offer this term.

In a nutshell, here are the new courses on offer this term:

  • C4D215: Marvelous Motion Graphics with Cinema 4D – Tim Clapham returns with an inspiring new term for Cinema 4D.
  • DMP202 :Digital Matte Painting Techniques II – We continue our DMP curriculum with the second of three planned courses, taught by Ludovic Iochem.
  • HOU210: Houdini Wire and Cloth Dynamics – Andrew Lowell returns to cover tried and true production techniques.
  • HOU211: Houdini Ocean Effects – learn how to get the most of out the new tools introduced in Houdini 13
  • KIN101: Microsoft Kinect for Fun, Hacks, and Real-World Usability – Learn how to do more than just kill time (and monsters) with the Xbox. Instead, explore cool ways to use it on the job
  • MOG213: Graphical Angles for Motion Design – Combining live action and motion graphics to create stunning sequences.
  • MYA218: Bifröst Procedural Effects Platform – Be among the first up to speed on the exciting new tech from Autodesk.
  • NUK225: NUKE & MODO Fundamentals for Design – Learn how to use NUKE & MODO as tools for graphics design.
  • NUK226: Painting and ReconstructionTechniques with NUKE X – Focus on a critical aspect of compositing with Victor Perez, as we work towards creating an empty Mexico City for our new short film project.
  • SPG201: Adding SpeedGrade to Your Color Arsenal – Robert Ruffo explores the best ways use the tool, but also how to truly bump up your game when grading.
  • TCH101: Introduction to TouchDesigner – Our first course covering this very cool mograph and interactive app, which was actually born from Houdini.

Of course, Background Fundamentals also returns for ten new episodes this term. Background is our weekly magazine style ‘course’ that covers a range of topics…it is an exclusive bonus for being a member.

In addition, members have access to over $40,000 worth of VPN software to help them learn the tools and build shots for their reel (non-commercial use only).
