LED light quality: a free fxphd Background lecture

To give you a glimpse of what fxphd is all about, we thought a great way was to highlight one of this term’s Background Fundamentals series classes. Think of it as kind of fxphd’s own private fxguidetv. We had intended to post a cut down edition of this in-depth look at LED lighting here on fxguide, but after the great response from our fxguide interview with Dedo Weigert, the founder of film, television and still lighting system maker Dedolight – we decided to publish this in full. This in depth video is about 40 mins long and it draws from the great lectures Dedo recently gave – thanks to our friends at Lemac in Sydney.

Below is a full fxphd Background Fundamentals class. Mike Seymour discusses the quality and variation seen in LED lighting. In the class, Mike discusses the quality of lights in terms of CRI – comparing Arri Tungsten vs KinoFlo vs various LED lights. The results may surprise and perhaps shock you, LED lights are great but all LEDs are not made equally.

This is a sample of just one class from the BKD series you would get if you were a member of fxphd.com the BKD videos are free with your membership and comes in addition to any courses you buy.
